Temping in Bermuda

  • As a Temporary Secretary, you will be sent on various assignments to a wide range of international and local companies throughout Bermuda; e.g. banking, legal, insurance/re-insurance, hospitality, health care, accounting, etc.  These assignments vary in length and can be anywhere from a week to three months, which is the maximum period allowed under our Immigration policy that a “Temp” can remain with any one client.  There are exceptions to this policy in the case of extenuating circumstances.
  • As a ‘Temp’ you are entitled to payment only for the hours you actually work. The standard work-week is 35 hours.  However, this can vary and your salary will be adjusted accordingly.  We do not unequivocally guarantee that you will be employed continually, i.e. 9.00 am - 5.00 pm, five days a week.  We are normally busy and it is uncommon for a secretary to be without work for longer than a week at a time.
  • Mandatory Government deductions are health insurance, social insurance and payroll tax (4.75% of gross salary).  There is no income tax in Bermuda and the Bermuda dollar is on par with the American dollar.
  • To work in Bermuda it is necessary for you to have a work permit from our Department of Immigration.  Should we offer you employment, we will forward to you the necessary Bermuda Immigration Application for completion.
